St Louis Rebels Board Meeting
Meeting called to order at
7pm by Katie Slater.
Board Members Present: Dave Weiss, Stephanie Weiss, Linda Guetterman, Ruth
Gilbert, Penny Davis, Brad Sweeney, Robin Mazo, Heather Douglas, Rick Gendron,
Lisa Gendron, Katie Slater, Linda Schmidt
Board Members Absent: Ginger
Johnson, Ross Behrens, Kelley Morris
Opening Comments & Announcements
The club is currently running in the black. Katie voiced strong concern regarding
maintaining the club’s finances in light of past deficits. May need to move MMISL to private, for-profit
company if the club cannot at least break even this year.
Motion
to approve the previous board meeting minutes as written made by Penny,
seconded by Brad. Motion carried
unanimously.
· Financial Report
Discussion of time commitment needed to
handle club finances. Treasurer position
has been
“hard to fill.” Suggestion made to
change this position to a paid accountant/bookkeeper position. This would be a nonvoting board position and
would require a change in the ByLaws.
Motion by Ruth to change Treasurer position to paid bookkeeper, seconded
by _____. Motion passed unanimously.
· July Election
Voting opens Wedn. June 17 and close on
Sat. June 27. New board officially
begins July 1.
· Pro Workshop Weekend Updates
Pro Workshop with Doug
Rousar (Fri, 7/31 - Sat, 8/1): - checkout YouTube
video of Doug and AnnMarie at MadJam.
Discussion of how to more
effectively promote the Pros and the club.
Idea - bring laptop to show videos of pros who will be visiting us and
past Meet Me In St. Louis events to gain member interest in pro weekends and MMISTL
event. Increased emails, facebook page,
flyers.
Stephanie's follow-ups:
- Send email to members
whose memberships have long been expired... chance to rekindle interest.
- Create list for
registration desk to ask for email addresses to add to our Out & About
list... open rate is low.
- Check VistaPrint to
see if they do Post Cards... Katie suggested a one-time mailing to members to
guide them to website and get them to sign up for Out & About emails...
many members haven't given us an email address for our files.
Member feedback suggested
that we offer "Free Admission to a Dance" cards instead of "Free
Lessons" cards in our membership packets. Board discussed and decided to
continue with giving the three (3) "Free Lessons" cards
instead. Stephanie to order new cards to match the new membership cards.
Board discussed how long the
"Free Admission to a Dance" cards should have for an expiration date
when we give them to non-Board member volunteers for closing a Friday night dance. Decision was 30 days from date of
volunteering.
InterClub Dance Contest to be
held 6/13. Discussion of club
representatives. Board asked to have
Katie & Brad represent the Rebels.
No spending from Junior
Funding. Check received from Chicago
Classic due to Rebels attendance there.
MMISL-updates
from Penny. Volunteers will be
needed. Recommend every club member
volunteer 1-2 hours. Penny asked the Board to approach people/businesses to
provide cash/prizes for MMISTL. Competition schedule and Registration hours
are now posted on MMISTL website.

meeting will be Monday, July 13, 2009, 7pm at Stratford.
