BOARD BUZZ
At its meeting on July 13,
the Rebels Board welcomed new board member, Keith McCulloh and appreciated the
way he jumped right in with great ideas for the “ways and means” to promote the
club and increase fundraising.
- The board held a lively discussion on shuffling of
responsibilities. Katie recommended
that each board member have a specific duty, with all of the board
supporting each other based on their strengths in different areas. Suggested and approved assignments are:

- Doug Rousar weekend will be very exciting. A weekend package discount is available.
- If you have not been receiving the “Out & About” newsletter,
sign up to join our email list for club and local dance information.
- Watch for the announcement stands on each table for future
events. Additional information will
be available on the flyer table by the front door. Tables will be numbered to help Dave
deliver food more efficiently.
- To maintain our relationship with the Stratford (which includes
the use of the Gazebo Room at no charge), NO OUTSIDE FOOD may be brought
into the dances (exception is given for our monthly member’s birthday
cake).
- Plans for “Meet Me in St. Louis” are progressing. Get your tickets early. Rooms are still available in the
hotel. If you have never attended a
dance competition, contact one of the Board Members for more information
about this excellent opportunity for improving your dance!
- With about two months to go, MMISL is a top concern. Volunteers are needed for: checking armbands at the door,
registration, 50/50 and door prize ticket sales, etc. Contact a board member to volunteer. The Club is currently financially
stable, having successfully paid all previous debt. We are also trying to make MMISL a
self-funded event, so if you are associated with a business who may be
interested in sponsoring the event or one of the competitions, contact one
of the board members.
- For the next year, as your club membership expires, you will be
issued a pro-rated membership that must be renewed July 2010. All future memberships will be renewed
at the same time annually in July.
- New fans are being purchased to make our dances more comfortable.
- This Friday, most of the board members will be out of town at the
Wisconsin Dance Challenge. We want
to thank Carolyn and Lance Bottini for volunteering to help on Friday, and
we ask that every one try to clear their own tables to help with closing.
- In future meetings, we will be discussing the pros and cons of
inviting various pros to town.
Suggestions from club members are appreciated.
