BOARD BUZZ
The Rebel’s Board held its
regular meeting August 10. We were
joined by Zoie, who spent the time happily coloring with her markers. The following issues were discussed:
·
We have had two
really good weekends. Doug’s event and
this past weekend. We have lots of new dancers and membership numbers are
increasing. We are at approximately 300 members
now. Be sure your membership is
up-to-date to be part of the weekly progressive drawing.
·
MMISL update: Penny and other board members are working hard
to find sponsors for competitions and prizes.
September 1 is the deadline for sponsors to be included in the
brochure. If you know any businesses who
may be interested in donating money or prizes, contact one of the board members
for a sponsorship packet. A second
ballroom may be added for more social dancing and routine practice.
·
Most of the board
members will be in Kansas City this weekend, so volunteers are needed to help
close on Friday. Clearing your own
tables would be appreciated.
·
A committee is
being formed for the Rebel’s New Year’s Eve Party. The Gazebo Room has been booked and the cost
will include dinner. Plan on attending
since there will not be a Friday night dance on January first.
·
We are already deciding
on the pros to invite for 2010. Once
booked, we will post the names, so you can check them out on youtube.
·
Etiquette is
important in dance, especially when the floor is crowded. Share the slot with your partner and be
respectful of others on the dance floor.
·
Your social
director is developing ideas for club activities outside of dancing. More details to follow.
·
Nominations are
being accepted to the Midwest Swing Dance Federation Hall of Fame. Individuals should have made an exceptional
contribution to swing dancing. If you
have suggestions, contact a board member.

To receive a copy of the approved minutes of any Board
meeting, please contact one of the Executive Board Members. Board meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the
second Monday of each month at the Stratford Inn. We welcome comments and concerns. These can be presented to the Board by
completing the questionnaire available at the front table of the Friday night
dances.
Keep on dancing!
